Routine Appointments
We offer two types of GP appointment:
- duty appointment
- routine appointment
Duty appointments are for urgent medical problems and are usually booked for the same day the patient contacts us. The duty team is based at our Stockbridge Surgery. We encourage patients to be seen in the surgery face to face as examination is usually required.
Routine appointments are usually booked 2-3 weeks in advance. Patients can choose to have a telephone appointment or a face to face appointment. If you would like to see a specific GP and they do not have any appointments available we will add your name to their waiting list. We will then contact you when an appointment is available.
I don't know whether I need a duty or routine appointment
If you are not sure whether your problem can wait for 2-3 weeks then you can:
- Review the advice on our website: Do I need to see a GP?
- Click here to: Submit an eConsult
- Call us and ask
How to book
The easiest way to book is to ring up our reception team at Stockbridge Surgery on 01264 810524 or Broughton Surgery 01794 301210. Alternatively, you can pop in to reception. We are one surgery with two sites and receptionists at both Stockbridge and Broughton can book appointments at both sites. Our receptionists have been trained in care navigation and can advise on the best person for you to see. Sometimes, it is possible for patients to self-refer without seeing a GP and our reception team can give you all the necessary information.
Occasionally, we have appointments to book online but if you cannot see any available this does not mean that there are no appointments. It simply means we haven't released them for online booking. This will be because we have limited appointments and want to ensure that they are used by patients who need to see a GP and for whom there are no other options.
Whilst we try to run on time this is not always possible. Please allow plenty of time for your appointment.
You will be allocated a Doctor on registration, but this is mainly for administrative purposes. You may consult any of the Doctors or Nurses at the Surgery as you are registered with the Practice and not an individual Doctor. However we have a philosophy that continuity with the same doctor for an ongoing medical problem is best when possible.
Online
Appointments at both Stockbridge and Broughton Surgeries are bookable online through the NHS App.
Already registered for Patient Access?
If you are already registered for Patient Access, you can switch to use the new NHS App, or you can book your appointment online via Patient Access
PLEASE NOTE: On-line bookings are NOT available for duty appointments, nurse appointments or other appointments that require a longer consultation time; such as contraception clinics, Medicals (including HGV Medicals), Post Natal Appointments, Travel Clinics etc. You need to telephone either Stockbridge or Broughton Surgery to make an appointment.
Telephone
Calls for appointments are only taken during the dedicated Surgery hours:
Stockbridge Surgery 01264 810524
08.30 to 12.45 - 13.45 to 18.30
Broughton Surgery 01794 301210
08.30 to 12.45 - 14.00 to 18.00
We ask that you try to observe the “one appointment, one problem” ethos. We strive to deal with each medical problem to the highest standard and this proves to be impossible if we are asked to deal with a number of problems in one appointment slot. If you feel you may require a longer appointment to discuss multiple problems please discuss booking a double appointment with the Receptionist.
Text Reminder Service
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
When you register you will be asked to consent to this service.
If you have previously opted out of the texting service but would now like to receive text reminders, please give verbal consent next time you speak with a member of the reception team or complete the Text Consent Form opposite.
Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
Training Practice
Please Note: The Practice is a Training Practice and part of a student's medical training will require them to be present during consultations. If you are not willing for our students to be present could you please inform reception.
